An Ode To My Mother

How beautiful is life when you know, there is someone who is there for you.
Someone who gave you existence.
Loved you even before you knew, loved you from conception.
Someone who might not have always been able to express that to you,
But who surely would go to any length for your well-being and smile.
Someone for whom physical presence is just another dimension,
And distance is never far enough to keep your well-being out of her mind.
Someone who you would get annoyed with, yell at, lie to and yet...
You know when you realize your mistake, you will find her still there,
Waiting for you to turn and just look at her.
Someone who won’t keep grudges against you,
Instead who will fiercely defend you, sometimes not too much to your own liking.
But that is her love.
She is standing strong and tall to ensure you get the lessons,
Lessons that will help you make right decisions, whenever you stand at the crossroads of life.
And for that she will is willing to be mad at you, put you back in line, let you shed a tear;
And do it all with a straight face.
She will talk to you, tell you what you need to hear, good or bad.
She will cheer you up like no one can.
And have so much confidence in you that you think how could you ever doubt yourself.
She will ensure you don't lose track of your dreams
And sometimes she will tell you it's ok to get a little distracted,
If that gives you joy, but never let you lose sight.
She wants to be your secret keeper, so that she knows you are safe.
You grow up and she sees her best confidant and friend in you.
She feels the joy in your smiles and hoots the loudest in your success.
She is, from her attempts, trying to give you the best of what she possibly can.
Some mistakes are bound to happen and sometimes she just can't be there to physically hug you,
No matter how much she wants.
But don't let the physical presence or distance be more than a mere dimension to you.
Your bond is way beyond.
Dig deep within and you will find your answers.
That, is where she really dwells. Right there within you.
Yeah, so you never knew that those 42 weeks of being in her tummy
Left her in your heart and soul forever and ever.
So, dwell in her company, raise a toast, share a secret, jump and dance and take that hug.
She is right here, waiting for you to realize and turn in and look at her.
She is your mother who loves you like no other.
